One passenger killed, others injured as suspected herdsmen attack Benue Links bus

Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked a Benue Links bus conveying passengers to Otukpo en-route Naka road in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state at Tyolaha village.    The assailants, said to be heavily armed attacked the vehicle on Thursday, October 12, 2023, killing one passenger.    Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident on Friday, said three people including women were injured and one person died.    Gwer West State Assembly Member, Hon. Gyila Solomon Terlumun, in a statement issued by his Senior Legislative Aide/Media Aide, Akem Peter, said three persons were killed in the attack while several others are still missing.    “Gwer West State Assembly Member, Hon. JAMB Releases Results Statistics For 2018 UTME. JAMB has now sent in the Official Result Statistics for the 2018 UTME conducted between 9th – 17th March, 2018. This statistics includes the total number of results to be released, and the number of results being withheld for  further investigations. JAMB claims to have viewed all CCTV footage in all centres nationwide.  They combined all the information from the CCTV footage, with reports from  supervisors, monitors and other independent Nigerians, to come up with the  following statistics; Total Number of 2018 UTME Candidates: 1,652,825 Number of Released Results: 1,502,978 Number of With-held Results: 112,331 Number of Results for Blind Candidates (Still With-held): 350 According to the JAMB Spokesman, Mr. Fabian Benjamin, the above numbers exclude the results for Foreign  Candidates, who are expected to write their own exams in April.

Police arrest recently released inmate for car snatching, recover vehicle

Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected car snatchers along Egbeda Road at about 1:30am on Sunday, July 24, shortly after they snatched a Toyota Corolla 2000 model with registration number LND-664-GF.  The suspects identified as Abiodun Nurudeen, 36, and Anthony Richard, 45, both recently released on May 05, 2022 and June 04, 2022 respectively from Ikoyi Correctional facility, were arrested following a tip-off from civic-minded members of the public.    Preliminary investigation reveals that the vehicle was snatched around Lekki, Lagos State.   Confirming their arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said while investigation is ongoing, the owner of the vehicle needs to come forward with proof of ownership to claim the vehicle.   He added that the suspects would be arraigned at the conclusion of the investigation.
