Earlier today, Ikorodu road in Lagos was temporarily closed as a tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit fell and spilled its content on the road.   The tanker, which fell at Kosofe area of Ketu caused a gridlock as Lagosians coming from Ikorodu were stuck on the road.  Lagos State Fire Service announced the temporary closure of the road while advising road-users to make use of alternative routes.   “If you're coming in from Ikorodu towards mile 12, Kosofe, Ketu. Road is temporarily shut down. Loaded Fuel Tanker fell,” a tweet on the LASG Fire Service handle read. The Fire Service noted that emergency units are on ground and working to avert a fire incident.out

A man is lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping death following a mishap which occurred on Wednesday, September 12th in Imo state. According to Stephen Chidiebere Anoro from Owerri, Imo state, a portion of the house (the ceiling) fell on his brother while he was in the room but he narrowly escaped the tragedy and came out alive.   A Catholic priest, Rev Fr. Jude Egbuom, was murdered by gunmen in Nkwerre in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State on Monday night. The attackers were reported to have made away with his vehicle. The gunmen equally murdered a young man whose identity could not be ascertained immediately. The man was said to be with the priest in his vehicle when the criminals struck. He was attacked around 8pm when he went to a barber’s shop on Anara-Nkwerre Road in Nkwerre town. He reportedly resisted giving the car keys to his killers, which angered them. The cleric was immediately shot together with the other victim in his vehicle ,while the criminals fled. The priest until his death in charge of St Patrick’s Catholic Parish, Amucha, in the Njaba LGA of the state.

Kebbi Government on Tuesday confirmed the death of a soldier and nine others in two separate flood disasters across the state. A statement by Abubakar Dakingari, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Atiku Bagudu issued in Birnin Kebbi, said the flood occurred in two local government areas on Thursday. He listed the communities affected as Kanya village in Danko Wasagu Local Government and Mahuta in Fakai Local Government. “A soldier and nine other people were killed by heavy flood as a result of incessant rainfall in the state; the soldier was said to have died while trying to rescue a woman from the flood.’’ Dakingari said although the body of the woman was recovered, that of the soldier had been washed away, but effort was on to recover the corpse. He added that the remains of five victims were recovered at Kanya and three in Mahuta.  The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has been assured by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) that it is committed to helping it secure up to 85 per cent of $2.8 billion it requires to build the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) pipeline project, a statement from the corporation on Monday disclosed. The statement which was signed by the Group General Manager, Public Affairs of the NNPC, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, and sent to THISDAY in Abuja, explained that the Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr. Maikanti Baru, got the assurance from CNPC during a high-level meeting between both corporations. It stated the meeting was held on the sidelines of the ongoing Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing, China. According to it, the AKK gas pipeline would enable connectivity between the East, West and North that is currently non-existent.
