Lagos Fire Service temporarily shuts down Ikorodu road as tanker falls and spills fuel

Earlier today, Ikorodu road in Lagos was temporarily closed as a tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit fell and spilled its content on the road.  

The tanker, which fell at Kosofe area of Ketu caused a gridlock as Lagosians coming from Ikorodu were stuck on the road.  Lagos State Fire Service announced the temporary closure of the road while advising road-users to make use of alternative routes.  

“If you're coming in from Ikorodu towards mile 12, Kosofe, Ketu. Road is temporarily shut down. Loaded Fuel Tanker fell,” a tweet on the LASG Fire Service handle read.

The Fire Service noted that emergency units are on ground and working to avert a fire incident.out

Applicants will now get passports in two weeks - Minister of Interior

Nigeria's minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that Nigerians would have to wait more than two weeks for an international passport anymore.   The minister, on September 7, gave the NIS a two-week deadline to remove all passport application backlogs. He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had cleared all the 204,332 passport application backlogs. Speaking on Wednesday, October 4 in Abuja while updating Nigerians on the status of the passport backlog in the country,Tunji-Ojo said: “No one will ever wait for two weeks to get passports again. If you apply and have been captured, you will get your passport within two weeks.” He noted: “Immigration service did three shifts to make sure that we clear the backlogs and to ensure that never again in the history of Nigeria, are we going to have a backlog. First image of girl, 9, stabbed as she played in street with sister

The first picture of nine-year-old Lilia Valutyte who was stabbed to death in front of her younger sister has been released, as police launch a murder probe.   Lilia was reportedly playing in the street with a toy pram near the town centre of Boston, Lincolnshire, England, with her younger sister when the attack took place.   Police arrested two men in connection with the little girl’s murder on Thursday night, July 28, the Telegraph reported.   An unnamed neighbour described the girl's last moment, saying: "The little girl was playing in the street with her younger sister when it happened. They had some toys out.   "I'm sure her mum wouldn't have been far away as she always checked on them.
