Applicants will now get passports in two weeks - Minister of Interior

Nigeria's minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that Nigerians would have to wait more than two weeks for an international passport anymore.   The minister, on September 7, gave the NIS a two-week deadline to remove all passport application backlogs. He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had cleared all the 204,332 passport application backlogs. Speaking on Wednesday, October 4 in Abuja while updating Nigerians on the status of the passport backlog in the country,Tunji-Ojo said: “No one will ever wait for two weeks to get passports again. If you apply and have been captured, you will get your passport within two weeks.” He noted: “Immigration service did three shifts to make sure that we clear the backlogs and to ensure that never again in the history of Nigeria, are we going to have a backlog. Husband arrives home to find wife's body being 'eaten' by son's pitbull

A husband returned home to find his son's dog eating his wife's body after killing her.   The 66-year-old husband returned to his Long Island home in Nassau County, New York, to find his wife Marina Verriest, 70, dead, with the pit bull feasting on her body.   The incident happened at around 1pm on Wednesday, July 27.   The horrified man called the police, and when the first officer on the scene entered the family home the seven-year-old dog charged at him - forcing the officer to draw their weapon and fire, killing the dog. "The scene was pretty horrific. We don’t know what time the attack took place but there was obviously a lot of mutilation on the body and the arm, the face, the legs," Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said at a press conference.
