Two arrested for alleged dollar fraud in Ogun


The Ogun state police command has arrested two suspects in connection to an alleged fake dollar fraud in Ota area of the state.

 

The suspects identified as Chika Kasarachi and Ifeanyi Okechuckwu, were arrested following a complaint lodged by one Omeh Chidebere Ishoke at Sango police station.

 

Recalling how he was lured to the suspect's hideout at Koleosho Street Anisere Sango-Ota, Ishoke said they collected the sum of N148,000 from him under the pretence of changing the money to dollar, for him to make a huge profit.

 Ogun Police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi said; 

 

"The duo are members of a syndicate who specialized in duping unsuspecting members of the public of their hard-earned money under the pretence of ‘washing’ dollars for them.

“He stated further that the suspects also collected his MP3 mini speaker, valued at N68,000, but no dollar was given to him at the end.

“Upon the report, the DPO of Sango Police Division, CSP Godwin Idehai, quickly led his men to their hideout where the two suspects were apprehended.

“On interrogation, they confessed being fraudsters, who have duped many unsuspecting people using the same method."

 

An unidentified liquid substance, several fake American dollars and assorted charms were recovered from the suspects and a manhunt has been launched to apprehend other members of the syndicate who are on the run.

Nollywood veteran actor, Mr Ibu, finally goes home.

After a long battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has died. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.  According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. The family source said that his blood pressure has been over 200 after he had the surgery and that efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly passed away this evening.  The actor battled with constant clotting of blood on his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges for years. In October 2023, he came out publicly to seek financial assistance to treat his ailment. There were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care but that plan was aborted by his doctors who believed he wasn't fit to fly. During the cause of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023. The actor is survived by his wife and children. He was 62 years old. ...

Breaking News: Just in, Air strike kills at least 22 in Khartoum, Sudan

A Sudanese army air strike on the capital has killed at least 22 people and injured many others, eyewitnesses and an official have said. Women and children were among the victims, the eyewitnesses told the BBC. The airstrike hit the Dar es Salaam district of Omdurman, on the opposite bank of the Nile to the capital Khartoum, early on Saturday. The army and a paramilitary force have been battling for control of the capital since April. The conflict began after the head of the army, Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the head of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), Gen Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, fell out over the future of the country. A Khartoum state health official, quoted by Reuters news agency, said at least 22 people had been killed in Saturday's airstrike, while the RSF said the death toll was 31. Knuckleballer and 2x World Series champion, Tim Wakefield is dead. The former Boston Red Sox star passed on at the age of 57, days after former teammate Curt Schilling revealed that the longtime starting pitcher was battling brain cancer. Ex-Boston Red Sox knuckleballer, Tim Wakefield is dead Announcing his death, the Boston Red Sox said in a statement;  "Our hearts are broken with the loss of Tim Wakefield. Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. Tinubu asks US Court to limit release of his University Records to Diploma Certificate

Nigeria's President, Bola Tinubu, has objected to the release of his Chicago State University (CSU) records to the candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last presidential election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.   Tinubu pleaded on Monday, September 25, that if the court was inclined to grant Atiku’s application for discovery, it should be limited to only his diploma certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in aid of his qualification for the 2023 presidential election.
