Britain's ‘longest married couple’ who friends said wouldn't last share secret to a long-lasting marriage as they celebrate 81st wedding anniversary

Ron and Joyce Bond have just celebrated their 81st wedding anniversary and are thought to be Britain’s "longest married couple."  Ron and Joyce, aged 102 and 100 respectively, got married in 1941 after a "love at first sight" meeting.          On their wedding day   The duo, from Milton Keynes, then went on to have two children called Eileen and Bill.  The couple say a bit of "give and take" is the secret to a long-lasting marriage.  Ron – who served in the Second World War before working at a local garage – said: "Sometimes life is hard but we work through it together. We look after each other too." While Joyce, a former Woolworths worker, adds: "We never expected to reach 81 years of marriage, we know we are very fortunate to have achieved this amazing goal.  "It feels excellent. Dele Momodu declares interest to run for president in 2023

Journalist and publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, has joined the 2023 presidential race.  Momodu who declared his interest at the PDP headquarters in Abuja today January 13, promised to fix Nigeria if elected into office in 2023.  The former presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP) in the 2011 election said he is now better prepared to run, adding that he “won’t be intimidated by anyone who feels he or she can buy the whole of Nigeria with loads of cash fraudulently”.  Speaking to newsmen, Momodu said; “After due consultations with my family, friends and some stakeholders, I have arrived at the decision to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of our great party, PDP, if selected as the party’s candidate. FG lists agreement reached with Twitter

The federal government has listed the agreement reached with Twitter before suspending the ban on the social media giant's operation in the country.  Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) had announced that lifting of the ban will be effective from midnight, January 13, 2022. Some of the agreements reached include legal registration of operations, taxation, and managing prohibited publications in line with Nigerian laws. The statement read;    “The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) directs me to inform the public that President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the lifting of the suspension of Twitter operation in Nigeria effective from 12am tonight, January 13. “The approval was given following a memo written to the President by the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Ibrahim. “In the memo, the Minister updates and requests the President’s approval for the lifting based on the T

Comic actor, Imeh Okon aka Okon Lagos, has reacted to the video of the Director-General of Bola Tinubu Support Management Council, Abdulmumin Jibrin, dismissing questions about the presidential hopeful's source of income and his age.      Jibrin was on AriseTV a few days ago where he was asked to inform Nigerians about the source of wealth of Bola Tinubu and his age. Jibrin dismissed the question, arguing that emphasis should be on what Tinubu has achieved, how he turned around the revenue of Lagos and infrastructural development.    Reacting to Jibrin's position, Okon Lagos opined that Nigerians should get their PVCs and not settle for any "recycled political ancestor that has past his prime." Nicki Minaj has been dropped from the harassment lawsuit filed by Jennifer Hough, the woman who accused her husband, Kenneth Petty of sexual assault.  According to court documents reviewed by TMZ, Hough agreed to voluntarily dismiss the suit against Minaj, but is continuing her litigation against Petty.  An insider told the outlet that no settlement had been reached in coming to the accord to release Minaj from the suit, in which Petty had stated that the 39-year-old artist had made harassing and threatening maneuvers toward her.  Minaj's lawyer Judd Burstein told TMZ that Hough and her legal team had sought to obtain money from the wealthy singer throughout the case, which was filed last August, and had strived to reach a settlement the entire time.  The outlet cited an email it reviewed sent from Burstein to Hough's lawyer Tyrone Blackburn in which Burstein ripped his legal rival in the case for trying to make an easy dollar off of the star.  'In my view, your conduct in

A Nigerian national who was indicted in April 2021 in connection with a large fraud and money laundering scheme is facing 20 years imprisonment after pleading guilty before a United States jury on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.  According to court documents and statements made in connection with the plea hearing, Kenneth Emeni, 29, a citizen of Nigeria residing in Martinsburg, was involved from at least August 2017 to October 8, 2020, with Kenneth Ogudu, also known as Kenneth Lee, John Nassy, Romello Thorpe, Oluwagbenga Harrison, Ouluwabamishe Awolesi, and others in a money laundering conspiracy that took place in Huntington and elsewhere.  Emeni lived in Huntington from August 2017 to December 2019.  As part of the scheme, Emeni’s co-conspirators created online false personas and contacted victims via email, text messaging or online dating and social media websites in order to induce the victims into believing they were in a romantic relationship, friendship or business relationship with

The Ronettes icon Ronnie Spector has died aged 78. The singer's family announced the news on her official website on January 12. The statement read: "Our beloved earth angel, Ronnie, peacefully left this world today after a brief battle with cancer. "She was with family and in the arms of her husband, Jonathan. "Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humour and a smile on her face. "She was filled with love and gratitude. Her joyful sound, playful nature and magical presence will live on in all who knew, heard or saw her. Festus Keyamo, alongside some other government officials who were away from Twitter as a result of the ban placed by the FG, has returned to the microblogging platform after the ban was lifted. Upon his return, the Minister for Labour and Employment stated that Nigeria is a better nation after Twitter met its conditions.  He said this while criticizing those who "prioritized politics over patriotism" following Twitter's suspension in Nigeria. Recall that the Nigerian government suspended Twitter in June 2021 shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet was deleted. The microblogging site was given conditions to meet by the Federal Government before the suspension would be lifted. On January 13th, the ban on Twitter was finally lifted in Nigeria after Twitter met the conditions. Third suspect charged in rapper Young Dolph's murder

A third man is now facing charges in connection with the shocking murder of rapper Young Dolph eight weeks ago, officials revealed on Wednesday January 12. Shundale Barnett, 27, has been charged with being an after-the-fact accessory to the deadly daylight ambush that ended the revered rapper’s life on Nov. 17, U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller said at a press conference.  According to Miller, Barnett was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over at a truck stop just outside Terre Haute, Indiana, Tuesday afternoon amid a national manhunt for Justin Johnson, 23, the Memphis man identified last week as the subject of a first-degree murder warrant in the Young Dolph case. AFCON2021: Tunisia launch an appeal calling for their AFCON clash against Mali to be replayed after the referee blew for full-time after just 85 minutes

Tunisia have made an appeal to CAF to replay their Africa Cup of Nations Group F match against Mali after the ended in a controversial 1-0 defeat.  Mali were 1-0 up after Ibrahima Kone scored a spot-kick when referee Janny Sikazwe blew the final whistle early. The Zambian official first blew the final whistle after just 85 minutes before restarting play for four minutes, but blew again with just 89 minutes and 43 seconds of the clash gone before 90 minutes.  According to DailyMail, Mali coach Mohamed Magassouba's post-match press conference was later interrupted as it was announced the final three minutes of the game would be played. Girl, 4, found dead in hotel next to unresponsive mum with heartbreaking note

A four-year-old girl identified as Masiela Decaro has been found dead in a hotel room with a note next to her body. "I'm sorry," the note reads.  Police officers found Masiela Decaro's mom Jacinda unresponsive as they responded to a welfare call at the Star Island Resort in Kissimmee, Florida on January 10, The Sun reports. Security at the hotel received a call from Jacinda's mother who had requested a wellbeing check as she couldn't get in touch with her daughter. Jacinda reportedly failed to show up for work, according to the news outlet, WFTV. When security arrived at the hotel room, no one answered the door, which was reportedly locked and latched from the inside. Jacinda and her daughter Masiela were found unresponsive on their beds. Jacinda was taken to hospital where she received "lifesaving measures" but the four-year-old was found dead at the scene, according to police. A water seller has been spotted in a viral video sharing money he had on him with prison inmates who were in a van waiting for a traffic light.  A photographer who shared the video on Instagram, said this happened in Ajah and the water seller gave out over 70% of the money he had on him. Super Eagles and Genk striker,  Paul Onuachu has been named the winner of the 2021 Belgian Golden Shoe award, becoming the first-ever Nigerian and the fourth African to claim the prestigious honour. The 27-year-old claimed the award on Wednesday night after scoring an incredible 29 league goals over the entire 2020-21 season and adding another 12 in the first half of the current campaign.  Onuachu gathered 333 votes to beat the Club Brugge duo of Noa Lang (272 votes) and Charles De Ketelaere (271 votes) to second and third, respectively. A Zimbabwean man who lives in a dilapidated one-room shack with his nine children, has shockingly disclosed that he wants to double the number of kids he has.  Ernest Chinuwo, lives with his very young family in a rundown, dilapidated shack in the high-density suburb of Usanga in Chipinge.  National broadcaster ZBC reported that the man said he is staying in the shack, after someone asked him to be the caretaker for the stand. The owner of the stand resides in South Africa. Admitting that his family is finding it hard to survive, Chinumo disclosed that his children have to wake up early so that they can ‘hustle’ for food in the town of Chipinge despite being quite young.  He said his children fetch firewoods which they sell alongside charcoal and fruits such as bananas. A man who had a blocked ear he believed was due to water was left horrified after finding out it was a cockroach hiding inside it. Zane Wedding, from Auckland, New Zealand, woke up with a strange sensation after he went swimming the day before. He decided to go to the hospital as he could feel movement in his ear, even when sitting still.  Zane was originally prescribed antibiotics and was instructed to blow a hairdryer near his ear in an attempt to dry out the area. However, the sensation would not go away after two nights of little sleep so he decided to see a specialist at an ear clinic.  The doctor at the clinic was left shocked, letting out an "oh my god" which caused the patient to jump. Teenagers find 3-day-old baby girl abandoned on -20°c freezing snow road in Russia

Five teenagers have found a newborn baby girl abandoned in temperatures as low as -20C (4F) in Siberia, Russia  The baby was found in an egg box on a remote road near the village of Sosnovka outside Novosibirsk on Friday, January 7. The baby girl was rushed to the hospital by one of the teenagers' parents where she was declared fit and well. Russian Police say they are looking for the mother and have opened a criminal investigation into the attempted murder of a minor. The parents of one of the teenagers who found the baby say they wish to adopt her but must wait to see whether relatives of the baby can be found.   Talking to Russian newspaper NGS, the father of one of the teenagers, Dmitry Litvinov, said the five teenage friends had gone out for a walk on Orthodox Christmas Day.
