The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters is expected to present its report on President Muhammadu Buhari’s impeachment on Wednesday. The committee is looking into the approval of the payment of $496m out of the Excess Crude Account for the purchase of military aircraft. Police arrest prime suspect in viral video of girls beating their friend over man

Police have arrested the prime suspect in the viral video in which a teenage girl identified as Pretty Nicloe, was filmed being beaten by her friends over a man in Uganda.    In the video which has gone viral on social media, one of the three girls is seen quizzing Nicole and accusing her of sleeping with her boyfriend. The group then pounced on Nicole, slapping, kicking and dragging her on the floor in the house.   Trouble began when Nicole started texting her friend's boyfriend and bad mouthing her, alleging that she sleeps around with other men.   The boyfriend shared this information with his girlfriend who then tricked Nicole into coming to her place where she was shamed, stripped and beaten badly.   Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, January 10, said the prime suspect, Kafta Queen,18, handed herself to police at Kensington post.    "She said she wante...

Nollywood veteran actor, Mr Ibu, finally goes home.

After a long battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has died. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.  According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. The family source said that his blood pressure has been over 200 after he had the surgery and that efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly passed away this evening.  The actor battled with constant clotting of blood on his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges for years. In October 2023, he came out publicly to seek financial assistance to treat his ailment. There were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care but that plan was aborted by his doctors who believed he wasn't fit to fly. During the cause of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023. The actor is survived by his wife and children. He was 62 years old. ...

Ray Stevenson, actor in 'Thor,' 'RRR' and 'Ahsoka,' dies at 58

British actor, Ray Stevenson, best known for starring roles in “Punisher: War Zone” and the “Rome” television show, has died at the age of 58.   Stevenson died on Sunday May 21 , four days before his 59th birthday,  his publicist confirmed in a statement. A cause of death has not been given.   The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported he had been hospitalized on the island of Ischia while in production on the film Cassino on Ischia, directed by Frank Ciota.   The Peter Mayhew Foundation, set up by the actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, tweeted: “We are sad to hear of the passing of Ray Stevenson.   “You may recognize Ray as Baylon Skoll from the upcoming Ahsoka show on Disney+. You may also remember his work as the voice of mandalorian super commando Gar Saxon in The Clone Wars.
