Jubilation as former Adamawa Speaker and his wife welcome twins after 20 years of waiting

The former Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Kabiru Mijinyawa, and his wife have welcomed a set of twins, a boy and girl after 20 years of marriage. 

 

The naming ceremony of the twins, Abdullahi and Fatima, was held on Sunday, July 9, 2023, in Yola.

 

Kabiru, who is the incumbent Member Representing Yola South constituency had announced the arrival of the twins in a Facebook post on July 2, 2023. 

 

The Senior Legislative Aide on Media and Public Affairs to the former Speaker, Hon. Hussaini Ahmadu, who confirmed the joyous news said the mother and her children are hale and hearty. 

 

“We thank God for this blessing. We are full of gratitude and thanks to God,” he said. 

 

Meanwhile, friends, colleagues and supporters have taken to Facebook to celebrate Mijinyawa.  

 

“After over 20 years of waiting patiently God blessed Rt.Hon. Kabiru Mijinyawa with TWINS a male & female named (Abdullahi & Fatima) Allah yaraya daiyiba,” one Umar Jada wrote.

Nollywood veteran actor, Mr Ibu, finally goes home.

After a long battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has died. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.  According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. The family source said that his blood pressure has been over 200 after he had the surgery and that efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly passed away this evening.  The actor battled with constant clotting of blood on his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges for years. In October 2023, he came out publicly to seek financial assistance to treat his ailment. There were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care but that plan was aborted by his doctors who believed he wasn't fit to fly. During the cause of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023. The actor is survived by his wife and children. He was 62 years old. ...

Don’t drag Obi into your Tinubu fight, LP tells Atiku

The leadership of the Labour Party has asked the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to leave out its candidate, Peter Obi, from his feud with President Bola Tinubu, saying the former Anambra governor is solely focused on reclaiming his ‘stolen mandate’ at the apex court. The party however said it will welcome any interest that amplifies its quest for a nation where true justice shall reign. The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be in the Guinness World Records for “causing Nigerians the most hardship .”   Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the former Anambra state governor noted that the average Nigerian should be able to judge the performance of President Tinubu so far since May 2023.    Recall that President Tinubu said he deserves to be included in the Guinness World Records over his performances in the country since he assumed leadership.   Reacting, Peter Obi said; “He may actually be correct when he claims that his name deserves to be in the Guinness World Records. Police gun down two members of dreaded armed robbery-kidnapping gang in Delta, recover AK47 riffles

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have neutralized two suspected armed robbers/ kidnappers during a gun duel in Udu Local Government Area of the state.    Spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
