Century Group acquires $15m oil production vessel

Businessman, Ken Etete’s company, Century Group, has acquired a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel from BW Offshore for $15m.

The vessel, named Sendje Berge, according to Upstream, was purchased as part of Century’s strategy to focus on long-lived, higher-return projects by offloading non-core vessels.

The sale allowed the Oslo-listed company to concentrate on more promising markets in Latin America, moving away from Nigeria.

Sendje Berge (IMO: 7360057) is a floating storage/production vessel sailing under the flag of Singapore.


Built in 1974, it has a carrying capacity of 274,333 DWT and a reported draught of 13.7 metres. The vessel has an overall length of 348.77 meters and a width of 51.87 meters.

Etete, 48, serves as the chairman and CEO of Century Group, which is the first domestic energy infrastructure provider to fully own and manage two FPSOs, namely Tamara Tokoni and Tamara Nanaye.

Additionally, the company operates three FPSOs, four flow stations, one MOPU, and one FSO on behalf of various clients in Nigeria within its operational portfolio.

Kevin Spacey pleads 'not guilty' to sexual assault charges in UK

Actor Kevin Spacey has pleaded "not guilty" to additional sexual-assault charges filed against him in the United Kingdom.   The 63-year-old star of Oscar-winning film “American Beauty” and drama series “House of Cards” appeared at Southwark Crown Court in south London today, January 13, via video link.    This is coming after he was slammed with fresh charges involving one man in November, taking the total number of charges he faces in the UK to 12. U.K.'s Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said in a statement at the time;    "The CPS has authorized additional criminal charges against Kevin Spacey, 63, for a number of sexual assaults against one man between 2001 and 2004. Detainee caught after fleeing from bus taking him to prison in escape attempt

A detainee being transferred to a Rikers Island jail in New York bolted from a transportation bus and hid under a trailer before he was recaptured, Correction Department officials said Thursday January 12. The detainee took off from the bus outside the Anna M. Kross Center about 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 11 as he was being dropped off.   He ran and hid under a trailer for some period and was then apprehended, officials said. “We take all escape attempts very seriously. Our acted quickly and apprehended the detainee within minutes in the secure area,” Correction Department spokeswoman Shayla Mulzac said. “This incident is under investigation.”

Lagos state govt rescues widow from ejection by inlaws

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency have rescued a  widow who was about to be forcefully ejected from her home by her late husband’s brothers.   A statement released by the Agency today January 13, says the widow whose husband died on Tuesday 10th of January 2023 had a toddler and is also pregnant. Suspected bandits kidnap DPO in Plateau

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State.    It was gathered that the police officer popularly called SP Lareee, was abducted on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at WOKTORI Hotel in Pankshin.   It was further learnt that the police officer had just resumed posting as the DPO in the area a day before his abduction.   A policeman in the council area, who confirmed the development to the  Punch  in Jos, Thursday night, said the DPO was kidnapped by the gunmen after they shot him in his hotel room.    "The DPO was just posted to Pankshin about three days ago. He was staying in a hotel in Pankshin and was in that hotel when the gunmen came and shot him before taking him away. Since then, we have not seen him.” the source said.
