Century Group acquires $15m oil production vessel

Businessman, Ken Etete’s company, Century Group, has acquired a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel from BW Offshore for $15m.

The vessel, named Sendje Berge, according to Upstream, was purchased as part of Century’s strategy to focus on long-lived, higher-return projects by offloading non-core vessels.

The sale allowed the Oslo-listed company to concentrate on more promising markets in Latin America, moving away from Nigeria.

Sendje Berge (IMO: 7360057) is a floating storage/production vessel sailing under the flag of Singapore.


Built in 1974, it has a carrying capacity of 274,333 DWT and a reported draught of 13.7 metres. The vessel has an overall length of 348.77 meters and a width of 51.87 meters.

Etete, 48, serves as the chairman and CEO of Century Group, which is the first domestic energy infrastructure provider to fully own and manage two FPSOs, namely Tamara Tokoni and Tamara Nanaye.

Additionally, the company operates three FPSOs, four flow stations, one MOPU, and one FSO on behalf of various clients in Nigeria within its operational portfolio.

Senate panel to present report on Buhari’s impeachment today

The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters is expected to present its report on President Muhammadu Buhari’s impeachment on Wednesday. The committee is looking into the approval of the payment of $496m out of the Excess Crude Account for the purchase of military aircraft. The 12 Super Tucano aircraft ordered from the United States will be delivered in 2020. The Senate had on Thursday resolved to refer the matter to the committee for legal advice, when lawmakers became divided on it. The panel was given the mandate to see whether the President violated the constitution or not. President Bola Tinubu will today send a new batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening,  The PUNCH  has learnt. According to a very reliable source in the Senate, the names would either come on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning. The source exclusively told our correspondent that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today. The lawmaker added that the screening of the 28 nominees will be concluded today so that the next batch can be screened thereafter. “By Wednesday, the new set of nominees will be unveiled, so that by Monday, we will be through with their screening. “We want to conclude with the screening before we go on our recess.
