I inherited debts as Ohanaeze President-General – Iwuanyanwu

The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has revealed that he met some debts and financial challenges on the ground when he assumed office.

Iwuanyanwu, however, praised the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, for coming to the rescue of the apex Igbo socio-cultural group.

Iwuanyanwu made the revelation at a meeting with the leadership of Ohanaeze, state governors from the region, and members of the National Assembly, which was held at the Imo State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja on Monday evening.


“I met some debts and financial challenges when I came in as President-General of Ohanaeze. But thank God for people like Hope Uzodinma, who came to our rescue. He brought in his public relations officers and provided everything, including security, to make the journey very easy for us.

“It is important to mention here that this is not the first time he has done that. When he was a senator many years ago, I think he gave us N16m at that time.

“When our structure was attacked by these unknown gunmen, he rebuilt the house. And whenever we have any problem, he has been a dependable person,” he said.

Applicants will now get passports in two weeks - Minister of Interior

Nigeria's minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that Nigerians would have to wait more than two weeks for an international passport anymore.   The minister, on September 7, gave the NIS a two-week deadline to remove all passport application backlogs. He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had cleared all the 204,332 passport application backlogs. Speaking on Wednesday, October 4 in Abuja while updating Nigerians on the status of the passport backlog in the country,Tunji-Ojo said: “No one will ever wait for two weeks to get passports again. If you apply and have been captured, you will get your passport within two weeks.” He noted: “Immigration service did three shifts to make sure that we clear the backlogs and to ensure that never again in the history of Nigeria, are we going to have a backlog. President Buhari receives Dapchi schoolgirls in Aso Rock.   Premium Times reports that the meeting between the girls and the president is holding at the press gallery of the state house.  The newspaper stated that the girls were flown to Abuja on Thursday, March 22, received medical evaluation and were debriefed prior to meeting the president. Police kill another man in France during rioting in Marseille sparked by cops' 'execution' of teenage driver Nahel

French prosecutors have opened an investigation into the death of a 27-year old man, fatally shot by a rubber bullet during riots on Saturday July 1, the Marseille prosecutor's office said on Tuesday July 4.   It comes amid the civil unrest across France after a 17-year-old boy ,  Nahel Merzouk , was separately shot dead at point-blank range by a policeman during a traffic stop in a Parisian suburb last week.     Thousands have been arrested in the week of nationwide clashes, with some 45,000 officers deployed to tackle the unrest.   Prosecutors say the death of an unnamed man in Marseille was caused by a violent shock to the chest from a 'flash-ball' projectile as used by riot police, but did not specify who fired or owned the gun.   The man died in the night from July 1 to July 2, while Marseille was engulfed in riots.   Prosecutors said it was not possible to determine where the man was when he was shot or whether the victim had taken pa...

I have two sons from different mothers - Singer Portable opens up on his private life

Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has disclosed that he has two sons from different mothers.  During an interview with Jahbless Original Intelligence, Portable spoke about his private life. He said he has many girlfriends professing love for him because of his new-found fame.  He added that he has a girlfriend he really loves and wants to marry but she is now "misbehaving" because of his new "glory".  Speaking about kids, he said he has two sons from two different women. He said: "I have two boys, strong mafians."  When asked about the mother of the children, he revealed that his sons are from different mothers.  He, however, declined to answer when he asked about their whereabouts.  He also spoke about how much he suffered before his rise to stardom.
