The Delta State Government has shut down a primary school in Asaba following the death of a 19-month-old pupil, Obina Udeze. Baby Obinna died from injuries sustained after his teacher, Emeka Nwogbo, allegedly flogged him last Monday February 7, leaving marks on his body. The little boy fell ill and was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where he died on Saturday, February 12. Reacting to the sad incident, the state Commissioner for Basic Education Chika Ossai, said the investigation showed the school was not approved by the state government. He said the school has been shut down as the proprietor does not have an operational license. The accused teacher is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing.

British actor, Ray Stevenson, best known for starring roles in “Punisher: War Zone” and the “Rome” television show, has died at the age of 58. Stevenson died on Sunday May 21 , four days before his 59th birthday, his publicist confirmed in a statement. A cause of death has not been given. The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported he had been hospitalized on the island of Ischia while in production on the film Cassino on Ischia, directed by Frank Ciota. The Peter Mayhew Foundation, set up by the actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, tweeted: “We are sad to hear of the passing of Ray Stevenson. “You may recognize Ray as Baylon Skoll from the upcoming Ahsoka show on Disney+. Joseph Onyango Joel Migundo, a 53-year-old nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has been arraigned in court after being caught using the name of a patient in coma to steal medicine at the hospital for three months. Migundo who was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts, was accused of committing the crime on diverse dates between October 2, 2021, and December 9, 2021, at the hospital. The nurse allegedly stole 12 bottles of Human Albumin Solution all valued at Ksh 81,600 (N295k). He is also facing an alternative charge of handling stolen property, after being found in possession of four bottles of the said drugs on December 9, 2021, during an ambush that was carried out by the hospital’s staff.
