Nigerian Army Gets New University In Biu, Borno State

Nigerian Army gets new university
A new university has been approved for the Nigerian Army.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) gave the approval on Wednesday at its meeting.
The university will be located in Biu, Borno State.
The approval follows the presentation of a memo by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
Mr. Adamu announced the approval while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting of the council.
The Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai, a lieutenant general, had earlier in March announced that the Nigerian Army will upgrade
the Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies to a full fledge University of Technology and Environmental Studies.
“The university was conceived as a unique one that will be different from conventional universities in Nigeria.
“The concept is to make it a solution provider and a centre of excellence for a variety of technologically related ventures such as generation and armament production,” the army chief said.

Russia-Ukraine war: Nigeria, Algeria, Niger planning to create Gas Pipeline to Europe

Algeria, Nigeria and Niger have signed a memorandum of understanding on construction of a vast gas pipeline project offering Europe potential future alternatives to Russian supplies.   The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) would transport billions of cubic metres of gas some 4,128 kilometres (2,565 miles) from Nigeria in West Africa, north through Niger and on to Algeria, according to a joint statement released by the three countries on Thursday evening,  July 28.   The statement says the gas could be pumped through the Mediterranean undersea Transmed pipeline to Italy, or loaded onto liquefied natural gas tankers for export.    Algerian Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab hosted Timipre Sylva and Mahamane Sani, his counterparts from Nigeria and Niger for talks on the project, Algerian state news agency APS reported.   The long-dormant project created in 2009 has galvanized more interest in recent months as gas prices have surged following Russia’s invasion of Uk...

Nollywood actress, Monalisa Chinda has revealed that the numbers used to communicate with her kidnapped colleagues can easily be traced. Monalisa, who is the Director of Communications of the Actors' Guild of Nigeria (AGN), took to Instagram to question the kidnap of actress Cynthia Okereke and actor Clemson Cornel after they didn't return home from a movie location. The kidnappers have demanded ransom of $100k. Expressing shock over the amount demanded by the kidnappers, Monalisa said she doesn't understand why anyone would think Nollywood actors have such money.
