Lagos clarifies sanitation modalities, warns defaulters ahead of April 25

The Lagos State Government has provided further details on the reintroduced monthly environmental sanitation exercise, set to resume on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with movement restrictions and enforcement measures in place.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said, “The exercise will hold every last Saturday of the month between the hours of 6:30 am and 8:30 am.

During this period, there will be controlled movement across the state to allow residents to carry out thorough cleaning of their homes, surroundings and drainage frontages.”

He stated that enforcement teams comprising officials of the ministry, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, Kick Against Indiscipline, Lagos Waste Management Authority, and local government sanitation inspectors would “conduct physical inspections during and after the sanitation window to ensure compliance,” warning that “defaulters will be sanctioned in accordance with the Lagos State Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017.”

Wahab also stated, “LAWMA intervention trucks will go around to cart away bagged wastes generated during the exercise,” noting that “there will be rewards for the cleanest Local Government Area, Local Council Development Area, and the cleanest street as part of efforts to encourage healthy competition and community participation.”

Driver arraigned for caressing his conductor inside a bus

A Nairobi driver identified as David Muya Gachucha has been arraigned before a Makadaka Law Court for allegedly touching a woman inappropriately while on a bus.  Court documents filed before Principal Magistrate Jackie Kibosia, revealed that the Kenyan man touched the woman’s buttocks and breast without her consent.  It read;   “Gachucha intentionally and unlawfully touched the breasts and buttocks of the victim with his hands on January 7 at Runar stage along Ronald Ngala Street in Nairobi County."   Gachucha began touching her bosom when she started taking a nap at the back seat of the bus where she operated as a conductor.   The lady told the court that her efforts to stop the accused from committing the act bore no fruits as he continuously abused her verbally. Trump loses immunity shield in E Jean Carroll defamation lawsuit

Ex-President Donald Trump can be held liable for disparaging comments he made about a woman who accused him of rape, the US Department of Justice has said. Its lawyers previously argued Mr Trump was legally immune as he was president when he made the remarks in 2019. But on Tuesday government attorneys said they no longer had "sufficient basis" to conclude Mr Trump had acted within the scope of his duties. The decision boosts E Jean Carroll's defamation lawsuit against Mr Trump. In May, Mr Trump was ordered to pay the former magazine columnist $5m (£3.9m) after being found liable for sexual abuse of her in 1996 at a New York department store. Ms Carroll, 79, is currently seeking $10m from Mr Trump in a defamation lawsuit, which is due to go to trial in January. Owo attackers didn’t come to kill or kidnap - Governor Akeredolu speaks on recent attack

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has reacted to gunmen attacking a construction firm in Owo community on Wednesday night.    LIB reported earlier that two security operatives were injured in the attack which caused panic in the community where Catholic worshippers were killed by gunmen weeks ago.    Commenting on the attack, Akeredolu said the gunmen had no plan to kill or abduct anyone. He also urged residents not to panic.   He said;    “I want to allay the fears of our people.
