Two residents jailed three months for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Lagos

Two residents, Kingsley Adieme and Rachel Onyekachi, were sentenced to 3 months in prison for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Lagos State.

 The State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that the duo was arraigned before the magistrate court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. 

 They both pled guilty, Wahab added.

The Federal High Court in Lagos has granted some reliefs sought by Standard Alliance Investments Limited and its shareholders Standard Alliance Insurance Plc, against the National Insurance Commission over the notice of cancellation of registration of Standard Alliance plc. Detention: Court rules on Emefiele’s case today

The detained suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, will today, know his fate concerning the fundamental human rights suit he filed to challenge his arrest and detention by the Department of State Services. Recall that on June 10, the DSS arrested the governor of the apex bank shortly after President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office and ordered a probe of the CBN. In the suit, filed through his lawyer,  Joseph Daudu (SAN), before the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, Emefiele is alleging a violation of his human rights.  Joined as respondents in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation; the Director General of the DSS and the DSS, who have filed preliminary objections, challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the case and urging that the suit be dismissed.
