Two residents jailed three months for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Lagos

Two residents, Kingsley Adieme and Rachel Onyekachi, were sentenced to 3 months in prison for indiscriminate dumping of refuse in Lagos State.

 The State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that the duo was arraigned before the magistrate court sitting at Bolade, Oshodi on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. 

 They both pled guilty, Wahab added.

Senate panel to present report on Buhari’s impeachment today

The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters is expected to present its report on President Muhammadu Buhari’s impeachment on Wednesday. The committee is looking into the approval of the payment of $496m out of the Excess Crude Account for the purchase of military aircraft. The 12 Super Tucano aircraft ordered from the United States will be delivered in 2020. The Senate had on Thursday resolved to refer the matter to the committee for legal advice, when lawmakers became divided on it. The panel was given the mandate to see whether the President violated the constitution or not. Most of the lawmakers who spoke on the withdrawal pointed out that the President had breached Section 80 of the 1999 Constitution, while a few disagreed. Gunmen in army uniforms kill six, injure four in Kaduna

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Thursday reportedly killed six persons and injured four others in two separate attacks on Baking Kofi , Kaninkon Chiefdom in the Jema ’ a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Lagos cultists kill victim, police rescue suspects from mob

The Lagos State Police Command on Friday said its men arrested 27 suspects engaged in different crimes, including armed robbery, murder, and cultism. The state Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja, on Friday, said arms and ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
