Police rescue 10 kidnapped traders in Ondo


10 out of the 16 traders who were abducted on Saturday morning November 7, along the Akure-Owo highway by unknown gunmen, have been rescued by policemen attached to the Ondo police  command. 
 
The traders were returning from Akure where they attended the monthly meetings of Iyalaje, Iyalojas and women leaders when they were abducted. Among those abducted was Mrs Hellen Edward, the Iyaloja of Isua Akoko.
 
Ondo Police Command spokesperson, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro said the 10 traders were rescued after a gun duel with their abductors. Four of the suspected kidnappers were arrested while efforts are on to rescue six other victims. 
 
It was learnt that the abductors had already demanded N11m ransom before the gun battle.
