Yobe Sports Commissioner dies in auto crash after attending his friend's funeral

The Yobe State Commissioner for Youth, Sports, Social, and Community Development, Hon. Goni Bukar Lawan (a.k.a Buggon) has died in a motor accident. 

 

Lawan, a former member House of Representatives, representing Bursari, Geidam, and Yunusari federal constituency, died on Tuesday evening, August 2, along Damaturu-Kano Highway. 

 

It was gathered that the accident occurred near Dambam, a community in Bauchi State, while Lawan was on his way to Kano State after attending the funeral of his friend, the Director of Finance and Supply of the Upstream of the NNPC, Hassan Gambo, in Damaturu. 

 

Babagana Mai-Modu, the Director General Press Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni, who confirmed the incident to Channels Television said the commissioner’s corpse has been deposited at the mortuary of the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital Damaturu.

 

Mai-Modu added that two of his friends, who were with him during the accident, are responding to treatment in one of the health facilities in the state.

 

His funeral will be held at the Yobe State Central Mosque at 11:00am on Wednesday, August 3.

Nollywood veteran actor, Mr Ibu, finally goes home.

After a long battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has died. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.  According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. The family source said that his blood pressure has been over 200 after he had the surgery and that efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly passed away this evening.  The actor battled with constant clotting of blood on his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges for years. In October 2023, he came out publicly to seek financial assistance to treat his ailment. There were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care but that plan was aborted by his doctors who believed he wasn't fit to fly. During the cause of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023. The actor is survived by his wife and children. He was 62 years old. ...

Police exhume Mohbad's body for an autopsy to be carried out

The police in Lagos state have exhumed the body of singer Mohbad today September 21.   Recall that the 27-year-old singer died on September 12 in controversial circumstances. He was buried the next day, September 13, in Ikorodu Lagos.    Nigerians demanded that an autopsy be carried out following the startling revelations of him being harassed and assaulted while he was alive.   The Lagos state police command on Monday, September 19, set up a 13-man committee to carry out a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise.   The committee is expected to turn in its report in two weeks.

Russian president Vladimir Putin is poised to announce he will seek another six-year term as Russian president paving the way for the Kremlin chief to stay in power until 2030.   Officials suspect that Putin may announce he will take part in the election in March 2024, Kommersant reported, citing unidentified sources close to the presidential administration.   The newspaper said there were, however, other scenarios for what Putin might do at the conference and the final decision rested with him. The Kremlin did not immediately comment.
