Coronavirus Update; Passengers Crowded At Peace Park Nuskka

  It’s no longer news that the Covid 19 virus is causing more harm to the general public and the world at large. Passenger were stranded at Peace park Nsukka, due to shortage of buses to their various destinations and this resulted to a hike in price to the available buses. The reason for the high population was due to the quick notice issued to the occupants of the University Of Nigeria Nsukka hostel.
 Some passengers had no choice than to spent their night at the Peace pace in other to make book first bus tomorrow.

President Bola Tinubu will today send a new batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening,  The PUNCH  has learnt. According to a very reliable source in the Senate, the names would either come on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning. The source exclusively told our correspondent that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today. The lawmaker added that the screening of the 28 nominees will be concluded today so that the next batch can be screened thereafter. “By Wednesday, the new set of nominees will be unveiled, so that by Monday, we will be through with their screening. “We want to conclude with the screening before we go on our recess. Marketers demand suspension of VAT on diesel

Oil marketers have called on the Federal Government to suspend the Value Added Tax on diesel, as it would further increase the burden on Nigerians. The Chairman of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, and Chief Executive Officer of Ardova Energy, Olumide Adeosun, made the appeal during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos on Tuesday. He suggested that temporarily exempting diesel from VAT would help alleviate the financial burden for the general population, especially amidst the petrol prices hike. He emphasised the need for a sustainable welfare package for citizens. Adeosun highlighted the importance of productivity in the country’s development and called on the government to address the issues of insecurity, productivity in the oil and gas sector, and the high cost of food and transportation. South Africa increases its minimum wage to N126,480

As the Federal government continues to debate whether or not to increase the miniumum wage from N18, 000 to N30, 000, the South African government has gone ahead to increase that of it's civil servants from N97, 495 to N126,480 per month. South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, who signed the new minimum wage into law yesterday November 26th, said the new wage would take effect from January 1st 2019 and would benefit about six million workers that currently earn R3,700 (N97,495). One South African Rand is equivalent to N26.35. This means South African workers would be earning N527 per hour: N4,216 per day and N126,480 per month. Their Nigerian counterparts currently earn N75 per hour, which is N600 per day (at eight working hours per day) and N18,000 per month. Recall that the sytate governors and the labour unions have been at loggerheads over the demand for the increase in minimum wage. 257 die in Algerian military plane crash

NO fewer than 257 people , including Western Sahara refugees , were killed when a military plane crashed near Algeria’ s capital on Wednesday , with witnesses saying they saw a wing catch fire shortly after the plane took off. Dozens of firefighters, rescue workers and military officials worked around the blackened fuselage of the aircraft, which had been ripped open near its wings . Reuters reports that bits of mangled and smouldering debris were scattered across the field near Boufarik airport southwest of Algiers where people were searching for bodies among the rubble.
