Nigerian man lands in trouble for allegedly beating his wife to coma over divorce

A Nigerian man, Salami Olajide a.k.a Stubborn has been accused of beating his wife and mother of his three children, Salami Ruth to coma and trying to force deadly insecticide, sniper down her throat for trying to quit their marriage of 6 years. 

The incident reportedly occurred at the couple's apartment at Ijede Road in Ikorodu on Saturday March 7. Ruth, 33, who is nursing a six-month-old baby, was taken to Ajayi Hospital within the community where she is receiving treatment.

The couple's landlord, Alhaji Lawal Tanimola who confirmed the incident said he discontinued his prayer and called other tenants with whom they forced the door open after hearing Ruth’s continuous call for help. He disclosed that the couple have never gone a week in their nearly-two-years’ stay in his house without fighting. 

Tanimola further revealed that Salami was released by the police, barely 24 hours after he was arrested.

The Delta State Government has shut down a primary school in Asaba following the death of a 19-month-old pupil, Obina Udeze.   Baby Obinna died from injuries sustained after his teacher, Emeka Nwogbo, allegedly flogged him last Monday February 7, leaving marks on his body. The little boy fell ill and was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where he died on Saturday, February 12.   Reacting to the sad incident, the state Commissioner for Basic Education Chika Ossai, said the investigation showed the school was not approved by the state government. He said the school has been shut down as the proprietor does not have an operational license.   The accused teacher is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing.

Ray Stevenson, actor in 'Thor,' 'RRR' and 'Ahsoka,' dies at 58

British actor, Ray Stevenson, best known for starring roles in “Punisher: War Zone” and the “Rome” television show, has died at the age of 58.   Stevenson died on Sunday May 21 , four days before his 59th birthday,  his publicist confirmed in a statement. A cause of death has not been given.   The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported he had been hospitalized on the island of Ischia while in production on the film Cassino on Ischia, directed by Frank Ciota.   The Peter Mayhew Foundation, set up by the actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, tweeted: “We are sad to hear of the passing of Ray Stevenson.   “You may recognize Ray as Baylon Skoll from the upcoming Ahsoka show on Disney+. Nurse arraigned in court for using name of ICU patient to steal drugs worth Ksh81K (N295k)

Joseph Onyango Joel Migundo, a 53-year-old nurse at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has been arraigned in court after being caught using the name of a patient in coma to steal medicine at the hospital for three months. Migundo who was arraigned before Milimani Law Courts, was accused of committing the crime on diverse dates between October 2, 2021, and December 9, 2021, at the hospital. The nurse allegedly stole 12 bottles of Human Albumin Solution all valued at Ksh 81,600 (N295k). He is also facing an alternative charge of handling stolen property, after being found in possession of four bottles of the said drugs on December 9, 2021, during an ambush that was carried out by the hospital’s staff.
