Japan's Prime Minister will speak with the Olympics chief tonight

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is going to hold a phone call with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach at 8 p.m. Tokyo time, Abe's office said, as calls for both the IOC and Japanese government to postpone the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo grow louder.
Abe and his ministers had previously resisted calls to either cancel or delay the Games, which are scheduled to start on July 24. But as other major sports leagues and events worldwide canceled and postponed tournaments and games, pressure has mounted for the IOC to do the same for the quadrennial competition.
Abe told lawmakers Monday that postponing the Games is a possibility, the first time he has publicly taken such a position.
Japan and the IOC have faced calls to postpone the Games in recent days from several athletes and countries.
The IOC said a final decision on postponement will be made within four weeks, due to the vast complexities of rescheduling a massive global sporting event like the Olympics.

President Buhari receives Dapchi schoolgirls in Aso Rock.   Premium Times reports that the meeting between the girls and the president is holding at the press gallery of the state house.  The newspaper stated that the girls were flown to Abuja on Thursday, March 22, received medical evaluation and were debriefed prior to meeting the president. Applicants will now get passports in two weeks - Minister of Interior

Nigeria's minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that Nigerians would have to wait more than two weeks for an international passport anymore.   The minister, on September 7, gave the NIS a two-week deadline to remove all passport application backlogs. He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had cleared all the 204,332 passport application backlogs. Speaking on Wednesday, October 4 in Abuja while updating Nigerians on the status of the passport backlog in the country,Tunji-Ojo said: “No one will ever wait for two weeks to get passports again. If you apply and have been captured, you will get your passport within two weeks.” He noted: “Immigration service did three shifts to make sure that we clear the backlogs and to ensure that never again in the history of Nigeria, are we going to have a backlog. A suspected kidnapper who abducted a six-year-old girl in her mother's car at a grocery store in Akure, Ondo State's capital, was apprehended while attempting to withdraw a portion of the ransom money. French prosecutors have opened an investigation into the death of a 27-year old man, fatally shot by a rubber bullet during riots on Saturday July 1, the Marseille prosecutor's office said on Tuesday July 4.   It comes amid the civil unrest across France after a 17-year-old boy ,  Nahel Merzouk , was separately shot dead at point-blank range by a policeman during a traffic stop in a Parisian suburb last week.     Thousands have been arrested in the week of nationwide clashes, with some 45,000 officers deployed to tackle the unrest.   Prosecutors say the death of an unnamed man in Marseille was caused by a violent shock to the chest from a 'flash-ball' projectile as used by riot police, but did not specify who fired or owned the gun.   The man died in the night from July 1 to July 2, while Marseille was engulfed in riots.   Prosecutors said it was not possible to determine where the man was when he was shot or whether the victim had taken pa...
