Nigeria is broke - Ngige

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, says Nigeria is currently broke.

 

The Minister mentioned this while speaking at the 2022 World Day Against Child Labour.

 

According to him, the Federal Government does not have money to prosecute capital projects next year, a development that might worsen unemployment and poverty.?

“I can tell you that Nigeria is broke. There is no money to fund capital projects next year. As you can see, the dollar that has been hovering around N500 and N600 is now above N700. The truth is that there is no money anywhere. The money that the FAAC (Federation Account Allocation Committee) has been sharing is money from taxes, customs and other revenue-generating agencies.?

The National Nigerian Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) no longer remits money to FAAC. So, the situation calls for patriotism from all Nigerians. The lack of money to fund capital projects would have implications on the capacity to create jobs. If jobs are not created, poverty will increase in the country.”?he said

Man Arrested For Dressing Like A Female Sex Worker

The Abuja police command have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly disguising as a woman to lure men at nightclubs in Abuja. The suspect,  Iliyasu Omika , a native of Kogi State who stays in Tungan Maje in Abuja, was among 15 suspects paraded by the FCT Police Command on Wednesday for allegedly luring men at nightclubs into amorous relationships while disguised as a lady. Police said he was arrested at a brothel in Mpape on November 5 around 5am “after his supposed client raised alarm upon discovery that he was actually a man and not a woman as he claimed.” When speaking with journalists, Omika denied the allegations but admitted that he met the man in a bar while he was with his sisters. Abuja-Lagos highway to be completed in 2027, to last 100 years - Umahi

Minister of Works, David Umahi has revealed that the Abuja-Lagos highway will be completed in 2027 and will last for 100 years.    Addressing journalists on Saturday, September 23, Umahi said the proposed 470 kilometres Abuja-Lagos Greenfield superhighway will be built by a private sector consortium at no cost to the government.   The minister said the consortium will operate the facility for a yet-to-be-determined period on a build, operate and transfer deal. The nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards has been announced, and top Nigerian artistes made the list.   Nigerian artistes, Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide have all been nominated for the 66th Grammy Awards. Burna Boy bagged a total of four nominations, while Davido earned three nominations for the 2024 event. Asake, Arya Starr and Olamide  The Nigerian singers were all nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category alongside South Africa’s Tyla. Knocks for presidency as Martin Luther King family disowns Buhari’s award

Public commentators and thousands of Nigerians invaded the social media space on Thursday , condemning the roles allegedly played by some presidential aides in the controversial award for President Muhammadu Buhari by the Martin Luther King center a few days ago . Pictures of the delegation from the centre, The King Center , presenting the award on behalf of the family of legendary American civil rights activist to Buhari at the Presidential villa , found their way into the media space hours after the visit.
