We need to regulate fertility - FG

The federal government has said that there is need to regulate birth rate in the country to achieve sustainable development.

 

Daily Trust reported that Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, said this in Abuja on Thursday July 2, at the celebration of the World Population Day, organised by the National Population Commission (NPC).

 

Ehanire who was represented by Director, Family Health, Salma Ibrahim Anas, said it would be difficult for Nigeria to achieve its Sustainable Development Goals with current 5.3 fertilty average in the country.

 

He said; 

 

“We must regulate fertility, without fertility regulation, we’re going nowhere. This is actually the key to unlock the success of sustainable development in Nigeria and the Ministry of Health has positioned itself to fulfill this purpose.”

Patient dies after fight in Hospital as another patient is arrested on suspicion of murder

A patient has been arrested for murder after a fight in a hospital ward led to the death of another patient.   Staff at Rotherham District General Hospital, in South Yorkshire, called police after the brawl broke out between two of the patients at 8.54pm on Saturday, Feb. 12.   Officers have arrested a 47-year-old man on suspicion of murder, after a 48-year-old man died from his injuries in the early hours of this morning, Feb. 13.  Police have launched a murder investigation. A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said the man’s family are being supported by specialist officers after yesterday’s tragedy.  They added: "Officers were called by a member of hospital staff at 8.54pm reporting that two patients had been fighting. Third suspect charged in rapper Young Dolph's murder

A third man is now facing charges in connection with the shocking murder of rapper Young Dolph eight weeks ago, officials revealed on Wednesday January 12. Shundale Barnett, 27, has been charged with being an after-the-fact accessory to the deadly daylight ambush that ended the revered rapper’s life on Nov. 17, U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller said at a press conference.  According to Miller, Barnett was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over at a truck stop just outside Terre Haute, Indiana, Tuesday afternoon amid a national manhunt for Justin Johnson, 23, the Memphis man identified last week as the subject of a first-degree murder warrant in the Young Dolph case.
