Four people die as boat carrying Police officer on waterways patrol capsizes

A Police officer and three other civilians on patrol around the Korokorosei waterways in Bayelsa State’s Southern Ijaw Local Government Area died in a boat accident on Monday, July 25.

 

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the Bayelsa state police command, ASP Asinim Butswat, said the body of the Police officer has been discovered, while the bodies of the three civilians have yet to be discovered.

''A boat transporting Policemen on surveillance capsized at Korokorosei waterways, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.”

“One Policeman’s body was recovered while three are missing. The command is yet to establish the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident. Divers have been deployed to the Area for possible rescue of the missing persons.”
