Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen attacked a Benue Links bus conveying passengers to Otukpo en-route Naka road in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state at Tyolaha village.    The assailants, said to be heavily armed attacked the vehicle on Thursday, October 12, 2023, killing one passenger.    Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident on Friday, said three people including women were injured and one person died.    Gwer West State Assembly Member, Hon. Police officer among suspects arrested for stealing road construction materials

A police officer is reportedly among the five suspects arrested on Sunday morning, February 13, for allegedly stealing materials being used in the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Express Way along Mombasa road, Kenya.    Thomas Odira Musasa, the officer attached to the Criminal Investigation Patrol Unit (CIPU), was on Saturday deployed to guard the Express Way but instead led four civilians to the construction site where they were caught stealing the materials.   Other suspects arrested are Andrew Kones Ntikiya a guard at the construction site, Ephantus Mwangi a driver and owner of the motor vehicle that had been loaded with the stolen goods, Samuel Kariuki and Samuel Mutembei. The suspects stole pipes from the site worth Ksh275,200.   The police said that the suspects were nabbed by police officer Peter Lang’at who is also from the CIPU division. Governor Ortom vows not to run from EFCC

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has vowed not to run from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) when called upon to give an account of how he spent his state's money.    Ortom who made the vow at his cabinet's valedictory session held at the old banquet hall of Government House, Makurdi, stated that he is not a coward. He urged his council members not to entertain any fear whenever the EFCC invites them for questioning.   He said;    “Anytime you are invited by EFCC, don’t be afraid to go, as for me I’m not a coward to run away from EFCC, if they come for me I will follow them. “I don’t have any investment in Europe all I have are in this state.
