Nigeria will see positive changes as we move along after going through these baby steps of pains - Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has asked Nigerians to endure what he described as baby steps of pain following some economic reforms he embarked on since his inauguration on May 29. 

 

Speaking during a private visit to the palace of the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, June 29, Tinubu stated that he is still taking baby steps and not in a hurry. 

 

He said; 

 

“Let’s be united. Let’s be focused. No distractions. We will arrive at the positive destination for this country and it’s all in our hands. By the grace of God Almighty, we shall reap the fruit of our labour.

“Nigeria will see positive changes as we move along, just go through these baby steps of pains. Me too, I am taking baby steps as the president, not marching in a hurry, be ready to listen, maintain an open door policy, let the freedom flow, let the confidence return to Nigeria. This country is the only country we have. I have been a refugee. I know what it’s to be a refugee.”

Applicants will now get passports in two weeks - Minister of Interior

Nigeria's minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has stated that Nigerians would have to wait more than two weeks for an international passport anymore.   The minister, on September 7, gave the NIS a two-week deadline to remove all passport application backlogs. He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) had cleared all the 204,332 passport application backlogs. Speaking on Wednesday, October 4 in Abuja while updating Nigerians on the status of the passport backlog in the country,Tunji-Ojo said: “No one will ever wait for two weeks to get passports again. If you apply and have been captured, you will get your passport within two weeks.” He noted: “Immigration service did three shifts to make sure that we clear the backlogs and to ensure that never again in the history of Nigeria, are we going to have a backlog. Man Narrowly Escapes Death After House Ceiling Collapsed On Him.

A man is lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping death following a mishap which occurred on Wednesday, September 12th in Imo state. According to Stephen Chidiebere Anoro from Owerri, Imo state, a portion of the house (the ceiling) fell on his brother while he was in the room but he narrowly escaped the tragedy and came out alive. An excited Stephen took to Facebook to share a footage showing aftermath of the incident as he wrote;  Friend and friends make una follow me thank God for savings the life of my brother yesterday being 12th September 2018.. Last year, four occupants of a two storey building on Fire Service/Mbaise Road died after the building collapsed at the early hour on Sunday. Five other occupants of the building were, however, rescued but they sustained various degrees of injuries.

Abuja-Lagos highway to be completed in 2027, to last 100 years - Umahi

Minister of Works, David Umahi has revealed that the Abuja-Lagos highway will be completed in 2027 and will last for 100 years.    Addressing journalists on Saturday, September 23, Umahi said the proposed 470 kilometres Abuja-Lagos Greenfield superhighway will be built by a private sector consortium at no cost to the government.   The minister said the consortium will operate the facility for a yet-to-be-determined period on a build, operate and transfer deal. The nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards has been announced, and top Nigerian artistes made the list.   Nigerian artistes, Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Asake, and Olamide have all been nominated for the 66th Grammy Awards. Burna Boy bagged a total of four nominations, while Davido earned three nominations for the 2024 event. Asake, Arya Starr and Olamide  The Nigerian singers were all nominated in the maiden Best African Music Performance category alongside South Africa’s Tyla.
