Lagos-Bound passengers abducted in Imo

A pandemonium ensued in Obiohuru community in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State after gunmen intercepted a Lagos-bound vehicle and abducted all the passengers on Tuesday January 11. 

 The 14-seater bus marked “Government of Akwa Ibom State”, left Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital, earlier in the day en route to Lagos, before it was intercepted.

 The gunmen reportedly ambushed the bus and took the passengers to an unknown destination while their luggage were left in the vehicle. Daily Trust reported that the engine of the bus was still running at the time some youths got to the scene.

 The youths subsequently alerted the police.

Nollywood veteran actor, Mr Ibu, finally goes home.

After a long battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has died. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.  According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. The family source said that his blood pressure has been over 200 after he had the surgery and that efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly passed away this evening.  The actor battled with constant clotting of blood on his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges for years. In October 2023, he came out publicly to seek financial assistance to treat his ailment. There were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care but that plan was aborted by his doctors who believed he wasn't fit to fly. During the cause of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023. The actor is survived by his wife and children. He was 62 years old. ...

Tinubu sends second ministerial list today

President Bola Tinubu will today send a new batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening,  The PUNCH  has learnt. According to a very reliable source in the Senate, the names would either come on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning. The source exclusively told our correspondent that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today. The lawmaker added that the screening of the 28 nominees will be concluded today so that the next batch can be screened thereafter. “By Wednesday, the new set of nominees will be unveiled, so that by Monday, we will be through with their screening. “We want to conclude with the screening before we go on our recess. We wouldn’t want a situation where we would go on recess and we would now start calling lawmakers to back to come for screening,” the lawmaker said. Thugs Linked To Senator Ubah Attack Capital Oil Workers Demanding Four-year Unpaid Salaries

Workers of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, who convened at Sanya Truck Park in Lagos to deliberate on their unpaid four-year salaries and unremitted pension of over 10 years, have been attacked by thugs linked to the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. The thugs were led by one Onyeka Ifemenam, a Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers official (Capital Oil VIO). It was learnt that Ifemenam had earlier had a discussion with one of the workers, Akujobi Ozoemena Barnaby, on October 5, 2020, and said he was instructed by Ubah to warn the workers to end the agitations against him or will be attacked. Two officials of the Campaign for Democratic and Workers’ Rights, Chinedu Bosah and Rufus Olusesan, who were part of the meeting, were brutally beaten by the thugs.
