NSCDC warns private guard companies against unprofessional conducts

Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi on Monday, charged Private Guards Companies to be professional and adhere to the guiding rules of the corps.

In a statement on Monday by DCC Olusola Odumosu, Director, Public Relations, said having been given the mandate to monitor, regulate and license the Private Guard Companies, the NSCDC was determined to continue to encourage and support efficiency, effectiveness, probity and accountability in the Private Security Industry.

This, according to him, would ensure that they carry out their operations in conformity with laid down rules and regulations to bring sanity to bear on the industry and eliminate activities of quacks.
He said the move was due to the prevailing security situation in the country, especially in the Northeast.

He said, ”Private Security Industry has a significant role to play in assisting Security Agencies of Government in their collective effort towards addressing and checkmating the dangerous trend of insecurity which has led to the loss of lives and properties.

Man Arrested For Dressing Like A Female Sex Worker

The Abuja police command have arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly disguising as a woman to lure men at nightclubs in Abuja. The suspect,  Iliyasu Omika , a native of Kogi State who stays in Tungan Maje in Abuja, was among 15 suspects paraded by the FCT Police Command on Wednesday for allegedly luring men at nightclubs into amorous relationships while disguised as a lady. Police said he was arrested at a brothel in Mpape on November 5 around 5am “after his supposed client raised alarm upon discovery that he was actually a man and not a woman as he claimed.” When speaking with journalists, Omika denied the allegations but admitted that he met the man in a bar while he was with his sisters. The Justice Arum Ashom-led Lagos State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal will today September 25, deliver judgment on the petitions filed by the governorship candidates of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, and his counterpart in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, against the emergence of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in the state.   Rhodes-Vivour and Jandor are challenging the return and declaration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winners of the state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).   Rhodes-Vivour, in his petition marked EPT/LAG/GOV/04/2023 dated April 9, 2023, had urged the tribunal to nullify Sanwo-Olu’s victory on the alleged grounds that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress was not qualified to run in the election. Actress and singer, Cossy Ojiakor has said that ECOWAS, Nigeria can send her as peace offering to Burkina Faso’s military ruler, Ibrahim Traore. She said this following the coup happening in some African countries with the recent in Niger Republic where its military junta took over power and sent President Muhammad Bazoum into detention.
