Release Nnamdi Kanu Unconditionally Or To Me On Surety – Anambra Governor, Soludo Tells Buhari Government

According to him, Kanu was needed in the roundtable conversation to discuss the insecurity in the South-East, as insecurity must end insecurity in the region and Kanu needed to be around.

The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has demanded for unconditional release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Soludo who made the demand in Awka, the state capital, said that he was ready to stand as a surety for the leader of the Biafran group if the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Nigerian government could not release him unconditionally.

According to him, Kanu was needed in the roundtable conversation to discuss the insecurity in the South-East, as insecurity must end insecurity in the region and Kanu needed to be around.

He said, "I am making a passionate appeal to the Federal Government to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally. If he cannot be released unconditionally, I want him released to me and I will stand surety for him.

"We need Nnamdi Kanu in the roundtable conversation to discuss the insecurity in the South East. We must end insecurity in the South East and we need Nnamdi Kanu to be around."

The governor therefore promised to take care of Kanu while offering to bring him to the Nigerian authorities any time he was needed.

Drug addict arrested for stabbing Lagos cleric to death

A 30-year-old man identified simply as David, who is said to be under the influence of hard drugs, has allegedly stabbed a cleric, Akeem Ojiwusi, to death around Odekeye close, in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State.   PUNCH Metro  gathered that David was fond of committing different crimes whenever he got intoxicated and his actions usually put him at loggerheads with his neighbours. Nigeria’s VAT performance lowest in West Africa – FG

The Federal Government, on Tuesday, raised concern over the performance of the Value Added Tax in Nigeria as the lowest in the West African region. While describing the development as worrisome, the government stressed the need for a change in policies, adding that the country’s VAT rate was less than one per cent to the Gross Domestic Product. The Director of Tax Policy in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Basheer Abdulkadir, raised the concern at the opening event of a three-day workshop on the harmonisation of Nigeria’s VAT Act with ECOWAS directives.
