Fire guts fuel station along Abuja-Lokoja Expressway

A fuel station belonging to AA RANO, located along Abuja-Lokoja Expressway, has been gutted by fire.

 

Spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory, FCT police command, DSP Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the incident, said the fire broke out while a fuel tanker was dumping fuel at the station on Sunday, January 15, 2023. 

 

"A Fire incident has occurred at an AA RANO fuel station along Abuja-Lokoja Expressway. The fire broke out while a fuel tanker was dumping fuel at the station. Police operatives, firefighters and other emergency responders were on ground to put out the fire and ensure minimal damage for individuals and properties," the PPRO added.

Senate panel to present report on Buhari’s impeachment today

The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters is expected to present its report on President Muhammadu Buhari’s impeachment on Wednesday. The committee is looking into the approval of the payment of $496m out of the Excess Crude Account for the purchase of military aircraft. The 12 Super Tucano aircraft ordered from the United States will be delivered in 2020. The Senate had on Thursday resolved to refer the matter to the committee for legal advice, when lawmakers became divided on it. The panel was given the mandate to see whether the President violated the constitution or not. Most of the lawmakers who spoke on the withdrawal pointed out that the President had breached Section 80 of the 1999 Constitution, while a few disagreed. President Bola Tinubu will today send a new batch of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening,  The PUNCH  has learnt. According to a very reliable source in the Senate, the names would either come on Tuesday night or very early on Wednesday morning. The source exclusively told our correspondent that the names of the new batch of ministerial nominees would be read at the plenary today. The lawmaker added that the screening of the 28 nominees will be concluded today so that the next batch can be screened thereafter. “By Wednesday, the new set of nominees will be unveiled, so that by Monday, we will be through with their screening. “We want to conclude with the screening before we go on our recess. Thugs Linked To Senator Ubah Attack Capital Oil Workers Demanding Four-year Unpaid Salaries

Workers of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, who convened at Sanya Truck Park in Lagos to deliberate on their unpaid four-year salaries and unremitted pension of over 10 years, have been attacked by thugs linked to the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah. The thugs were led by one Onyeka Ifemenam, a Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers official (Capital Oil VIO). It was learnt that Ifemenam had earlier had a discussion with one of the workers, Akujobi Ozoemena Barnaby, on October 5, 2020, and said he was instructed by Ubah to warn the workers to end the agitations against him or will be attacked.
