Oil discovered in Nasarawa, NNPC to begin drilling in March – Kyari

Group Chief Executive Officer, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited, Mele Kyari, has announced the discovery of oil in Nasarawa State.

 

Kyari said the official spud-in of first oil well in the state will commence in two months. A tweet shared by NNPC read; 

 

“Group CEO @nnpclimited @MKKyari announced today that the official spud-in of first oil well in Nasarawa State will commence in March 2023. This, according to @MKKyari, is in continuation of hydrocarbon exploration activities in Nigeria’s inland basins.

“@MKKyari disclosed this while receiving in audience a delegation of prominent Nasarawa State indegenes, led by the State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule at the #NNPCTowers, Abuja, earlier today.”

                                                                                 

This comes less than two months after President Muhammadu Buhari flagged off the Kolmani Integrated Development Project in the North-East.

Marketers demand suspension of VAT on diesel

Oil marketers have called on the Federal Government to suspend the Value Added Tax on diesel, as it would further increase the burden on Nigerians. The Chairman of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, and Chief Executive Officer of Ardova Energy, Olumide Adeosun, made the appeal during an interactive session with journalists in Lagos on Tuesday. He suggested that temporarily exempting diesel from VAT would help alleviate the financial burden for the general population, especially amidst the petrol prices hike. He emphasised the need for a sustainable welfare package for citizens. Ponmo is now dangerous - FG raises alarm about a dangerous virus

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has raised an alarm of ponmo now being dangerous for Nigerians to consume following the outbreak of Anthrax in some neighbouring countries within the West African sub-region. Nigerians have been asked to desist from the consumption of hides (ponmo), smoked meat and bush meat as they pose serious risk until the situation is brought under control.
