Veteran actress Ireti Doyle confirms separation from Patrick Doyle, explains why she still bears Doyle despite the divorce

Nollywood actress, Ireti Doyle has confirmed her divorce from veteran broadcaster and actor, Patrick Doyle.

 

Ireti and Patrick went their separate ways after over 19 years of marriage. In a recent interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo, the actress said she is no longer married to Mr Doyle.

 

“We are officially divorced” she confirmed

 

The 55-year-old went on to say that she had no business being married at that time.

 

“When you’re an adult, it’s not a life and death situation…there are some situations that are way beyond your control. The truth of the matter is that I had no business being married at that time, period! let’s not even go to the choice of who I married. I can’t sacrifice my life in the alter of your imagination or your fantasy.'' she said

 

Ireti shared a clip of the interview on her Instagram page with the caption;

“There is a time to be silent and a time to speak. In this age where everything one says is scrutinised and quartered; it takes a certain level of trust to bare intimate details .. we are here now.” 

 

Furthermore, in a Twitter exchange with some of her followers this morning, Ireti explained why she still bears Doyle despite the divorce. See below.

Nollywood veteran actor, Mr Ibu, finally goes home.

After a long battle with blood clotting on his leg, veteran actor, John Okafor aka Mr Ibu has died. The actor passed away in a hospital in Lagos state on Saturday, March 2.  According to family sources, the actor has been on life support after he underwent a second surgery for his ailment recently. The family source said that his blood pressure has been over 200 after he had the surgery and that efforts were being made to stabilize it before he sadly passed away this evening.  The actor battled with constant clotting of blood on his leg (diseased blood vessels) and other health challenges for years. In October 2023, he came out publicly to seek financial assistance to treat his ailment. There were plans to fly him abroad for further medical care but that plan was aborted by his doctors who believed he wasn't fit to fly. During the cause of his treatment, his leg was amputated in November 2023. The actor is survived by his wife and children. He was 62 years old. ...

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be in the Guinness World Records for “causing Nigerians the most hardship .”   Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, the former Anambra state governor noted that the average Nigerian should be able to judge the performance of President Tinubu so far since May 2023.    Recall that President Tinubu said he deserves to be included in the Guinness World Records over his performances in the country since he assumed leadership.   Reacting, Peter Obi said; “He may actually be correct when he claims that his name deserves to be in the Guinness World Records. Police gun down two members of dreaded armed robbery-kidnapping gang in Delta, recover AK47 riffles

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have neutralized two suspected armed robbers/ kidnappers during a gun duel in Udu Local Government Area of the state.    Spokesperson of the command, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
