Manchester United revealed as the Premier League's most valuable club with an estimated worth of £4.8billion

Manchester United have reportedly retained its position as the Premier League's most valuable club, with a valuation of £ 4.8 billion [$5.95b]. 

 

According to a study by Sportico, Manchester United's valuation of £4.8billion left them at the summit of the list.

 

United's rivals Liverpool and Man City were second and third respectively with valuations of £3.8billion [$4.71b] and £3.5billion [$4.43b].

 

Current Premier League leaders Arsenal moved up a spot with their value of £2.9billion [$3.6b], while Chelsea were left in the fifth with £2.8billion [$3.47b].

 

Between 2021 and 2023, it was Newcastle United who saw their club grow in value their most - with a 63 per cent increase bringing them to a total value of £388million.

 

The news of United's mammoth valuation comes just two months after the board said they 'will consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company'.

 

Executive co-chairmen Avram and Joel Glazer added that they were looking to 'maximise the significant growth opportunities available to the club today and in the future'.

The little boy fell ill and was admitted at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba where he died on Saturday, February 12.   Reacting to the sad incident, the state Commissioner for Basic Education Chika Ossai, said the investigation showed the school was not approved by the state government. He said the school has been shut down as the proprietor does not have an operational license.   The accused teacher is currently in police custody while investigations are ongoing.

Ray Stevenson, actor in 'Thor,' 'RRR' and 'Ahsoka,' dies at 58

British actor, Ray Stevenson, best known for starring roles in “Punisher: War Zone” and the “Rome” television show, has died at the age of 58.   Stevenson died on Sunday May 21 , four days before his 59th birthday,  his publicist confirmed in a statement. A cause of death has not been given.   The Italian newspaper La Repubblica reported he had been hospitalized on the island of Ischia while in production on the film Cassino on Ischia, directed by Frank Ciota.   The Peter Mayhew Foundation, set up by the actor who played Chewbacca in the Star Wars films, tweeted: “We are sad to hear of the passing of Ray Stevenson.   “You may recognize Ray as Baylon Skoll from the upcoming Ahsoka show on Disney+. You may also remember his work as the voice of mandalorian super commando Gar Saxon in The Clone Wars. FG, labour talks collapse, NLC begins strike Aug 14

Barely 24 hours after meeting with President Bola Tinubu where an agreement was reached to call off their protests, the rapprochement between the organised labour and the Federal Government appeared to have collapsed as the unions on Thursday night vowed to embark on a nationwide strike from August 14 if their leaders were summoned for contempt of court orders.  The Nigeria Labour Congress hinged its decision on the contempt of court application filed by the Federal Ministry of Justice against the labour leaders on Wednesday. It threatened to down tools should the Federal Government fails to withdraw the lawsuit accusing the labour leadership of disobeying court orders. The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, announced the decision on Thursday night after the union’s National Executive Council meeting which was held in Abuja.
