Nigerian woman dies one month after her wedding

A Nigerian woman, Rahama Asma'u, has died barely one month after her wedding. 

 

Asmau and her husband, Umar Maigari Dingyadi, got married on Saturday, December 31, 2022. 

 

She died on Thursday morning, January 26, 2023, in Sokoto State. 

 

Her husband is said to be the son of Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, the current Minister of Police Affairs. 

 

She was laid to rest today according to Islamic rites.

Maintain cordial relationship with Wamakko, Shettima urges Sokoto governor

Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has urged the Governor of Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, to maintain a cordial relationship with the former governor of the state and his political mentor, Senator Aliyu Wamakko. He urged Governor Aliyu not to allow rumour mongers to create a rift between him and Senator Wamakko, who is also the leader of APC in Sokoto state. He made the call during a visit to Governor Ahmed Aliyu at the Government House, Sokoto. According to him, enemies of the state will try their best to see that the good relationship existing between the Governor and Senator Wamakko is jeopardised. Zelensky visits Snake Island on Ukraine War's 500th day

Volodymyr Zelensky has marked the 500th day of the Ukraine war by posting a video from an island that became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance. At the start of the war, Ukrainian soldiers defending Snake Island famously defied an order from a Russian warship to surrender. The Black Sea island was seized by Russia, but later reclaimed by Ukraine. In a video, the Ukrainian president called it a "place of victory" that would never be reconquered. In the undated clip, posted on Telegram, Mr Zelensky described it as proof that Ukraine would return every inch of its territory taken by Russia since the full-scale invasion began on 24 February 2022. Police arrest recently released inmate for car snatching, recover vehicle

Officers of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected car snatchers along Egbeda Road at about 1:30am on Sunday, July 24, shortly after they snatched a Toyota Corolla 2000 model with registration number LND-664-GF.  The suspects identified as Abiodun Nurudeen, 36, and Anthony Richard, 45, both recently released on May 05, 2022 and June 04, 2022 respectively from Ikoyi Correctional facility, were arrested following a tip-off from civic-minded members of the public.    Preliminary investigation reveals that the vehicle was snatched around Lekki, Lagos State.   Confirming their arrest to newsmen, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said while investigation is ongoing, the owner of the vehicle needs to come forward with proof of ownership to claim the vehicle.   He added that the suspects would be arraigned at the conclusion of the investigation.
